Adopt Amanda

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Amanda is a spayed mixed-breed dog, born in December 2024, who was found as a puppy together with her sisters Athena, Agnes and Ashley on a landfill and brought to the animal shelter in Svilos. She is now ready for adoption and is looking for loving people who can give her a forever home. Amanda is a very people-oriented, gentle and balanced dog, who impresses with her calm and affectionate nature. She seeks human company, shows affection and greatly enjoys attention and cuddles. In everyday life, Amanda presents herself as a pleasant and attentive companion. She loves treats, is intelligent and has good prerequisites to continue learning with her caretakers. Amanda would like to be mentally stimulated and needs people who, in addition to sufficient exercise, also offer her meaningful and varied tasks. On the yard, she shows herself to be lively and active, but can also calmly observe the surroundings and relax. Amanda is very compatible with other dogs. She gets along well with other dogs, likes to walk with them and is social and friendly even in play. Her behavior towards cats and other animals is unknown to us. For Amanda, we are looking for a loving and reliable home with people who enjoy exercising her both physically and mentally. Important for her are sufficient exercise, interesting ways to occupy herself, as well as enough time for closeness, attention and cuddles. The dog resembles a Malinois in appearance, but is smaller and more delicate in build. The shoulder height of the dog is approximately 48 cm and she weighs approximately 15 kg.

About Amanda

What life with Amanda looks like

Amanda is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amanda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amanda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amanda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amanda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amanda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amanda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amanda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
