Amarok Published on October 4, 2026 at 09:53 💜Animal Protection Association "Au Royaume de l'Espoir CA-LIN" in Dordogne (department 24) 💜Here is the gentle Amarok! A young male Petit Bleu de Gascogne X Pointer born on 25/01/2025. This gentle giant is looking for a family for life 🥰 He is: ✅ Identified by electronic chip; ✅ Vaccinated + passport/rabies vaccine; ✅ Sterilized; ✅ Dewormed internally and externally; His compatibilities are: ✅ Children; ✅ Cats; ✅ Female dogs (small and large); ✅ Male dogs (small and large); Amarok was born to a hunter, but was recovered as a baby by an elderly lady who gave him a family life (he never hunted)! Unfortunately, health problems and the inability to keep him made it impossible for her to keep him... so she made the choice to contact our association to ask for care! He is a gentle, cuddly, extremely close to humans, who loves cars and walks! ❤️ His only small flaw is that his previous owner did not necessarily teach him to be alone... he does not destroy and does not bark! But on the other hand, he may try to open doors to find human company 😅 The team of the association is currently working with him, but he will need to continue this learning in his future family (and leave him toys to occupy him so he is not sad when we leave without him) 😉 If you have additional questions about Amarok, you can contact our association by phone at: 06.28.47.57.22. Do not forget that to save time for our team, which has a lot of work, we will only answer questions from people who have completed the online form in advance by phone. ⛔If you have a garden/land, it must be fenced or a fence must be installed before adoption (for safety reasons, we cannot accept that our dogs are adopted by people who have an unfenced exterior). Do not hesitate if you have time to take the lead by sending a small message to the team of our association with photos of your fence, it will save us time, especially since we will ask you for it at some point! 😇 ⛔Having a lot of work, we ask you to complete our online form before calling us to save time for our team. Also take into account the fact that we do not always have time to consult the forms quickly or to contact everyone individually⛔ To apply for adoption, you will need to complete the form for potential future adopters here: And the certificate of commitment and knowledge available here (to be sent scanned or photographed, in a message on social networks or by email to the address: ) : This does not commit you to anything towards him, but it is mandatory if you want to be able to adopt at the association 😉 Do not forget that an adoption must be a well-considered act because it commits you until the end of the life of your little four-legged companion 🐾

About Amarok

What life with Amarok looks like

Amarok is a young adult pointer dog waiting at Au Royaume Câlin in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amarok, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amarok?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Au Royaume Câlin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amarok on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amarok if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Au Royaume Câlin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amarok already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amarok isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Au Royaume Câlin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amarok and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
