Amelia

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Female Β· Senior Β· 16 years

Meet Amelia, this lovely tortoiseshell lady, who is approximately 16 years young and looking for a special place to spend her golden years. She's a sweet girl who knows exactly what she loves in life – her favourite cosy blankets, a warm and comfortable spot to snooze, and, most importantly, plenty of love and attention from her humans. She's happiest when she's snuggled up beside you, enjoying some fuss and companionship.Amelia would love a peaceful retirement home where she can settle in, feel safe and secure, and be thoroughly spoilt. She could happily live with teenagers but would prefer to be the only pet in the home, as she doesn't want to share her space with other cats or dogs. She is used to having access to the outdoors and would need a home where she can safely enjoy exploring outside.Amelia is also a very clean girl and has excellent litter tray habits, using her tray reliably. At around 16 years old, she deserves a loving home where she can enjoy her retirement in comfort, surrounded by people who adore her. She may be a senior lady, but she still has plenty of love to give and would make a wonderful companion.Amelia's ideal home:A loving, calm home where she can enjoy her retirement.A family with teenagers or adults. No other cats or dogs.Access to the outdoors for exploring.Lots of cosy blankets, cuddles, fuss and attention!Could you be the special person who gives beautiful Amelia the loving retirement home she deserves?

About Amelia

What life with Amelia looks like

Amelia is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues β€” keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amelia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amelia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amelia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amelia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Amelia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amelia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amelia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
