Amelie

Mixed Breed Cat · Female

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Amelie suddenly appeared in a cat colony in our city. She was in great need, as her tail was severely injured. We did not hesitate and rescued her immediately. At the vet, the extent of the injury was confirmed, necessitating the amputation of her tail. Amelie tolerated the operation well, currently lives in a foster home, and is now ready for a new life. Her personality: • At first shy, then cuddly: Amelie is initially a bit reserved around strangers. Once she realizes that you mean her no harm, she warms up and enjoys human contact very much. • Calm & loving: She is a very gentle, cuddly, and pleasantly calm roommate. • Well-socialized: Amelie gets along excellently with other cats and seeks harmony. Amelie has not lost her trust in humans despite her difficult start. She wishes for a quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace. The animal presented here comes from an animal shelter/foster home that houses many animals. We are searching for a loving and safe home for this animal. The descriptions are brief because there simply isn't time to provide detailed descriptions during our daily work to care for all the animals. If you are interested, a more detailed description can be requested by sending your questions directly to the provided email address. We will try to answer them as soon as possible. Home sought For Amelie, we are searching for a loving, understanding home. Our cats are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and come with an EU Pass, provided their age and health condition allow it. Additionally, they are tested for FELV/FIV. We look forward to your contact.

About Amelie

What life with Amelie looks like

Amelie is a large adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amelie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amelie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amelie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amelie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amelie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amelie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amelie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
