Amico

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy

Amico had a tough start in life. Our caretaker found the little guy on the streets of Romania - it quickly became clear that something was wrong with his foot. An X-ray brought sad confirmation: Amico had broken his thigh. Luckily, he was immediately operated on and was able to recover in peace at a foster home in Romania. Today, he's doing much better. He uses his leg, but doesn't put his full weight on it yet. That's why we're looking for people to support Amico on his journey and do physiotherapy with him so he learns to use his leg again as a matter of course. Amico is a real little sunshine and gets along wonderfully with the other dogs at his foster home. He also gets along great with cats - a home with cats would be no problem for him at all. At just 4 months old, Amico already weighs about 12 kg. We therefore assume that he will grow into a medium to large dog. Although Amico currently lives at a foster home, he doesn't know what life in a house is like. He's unfamiliar with a collar, harness, and leash, as well as all the new impressions that come with being a family dog. His future owners should therefore have patience, understanding, and a joy in showing him the world.

DE·Show original

Amico hatte keinen leichten Start ins Leben.

About Amico

What life with Amico looks like

Amico is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Arme Hundeseelen in Năsăud.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇷🇴Adopting from Romania

Romanian rescues handle the highest volume of cross-border adoptions in the EU. Animals are quarantined and fully vetted before transport. Reputable rescues maintain detailed health records and post-adoption follow-up.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arme Hundeseelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arme Hundeseelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arme Hundeseelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
