Amir

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Amir - our invisible dog, who has been waiting for his chance since 2017 :( It's not only because of the appearance of a regular mixed breed dog, which thousands of dogs have, but especially because of his character - a fearful, people-avoiding dog. Amir came to the animal shelter with his siblings, as a six-month-old completely "wild" dog, with no socialization with people. He is now 8 years old and has spent his whole life with us. He has made up for as much as the conditions in the animal shelter allowed. For him, this is huge steps that allow him to function relatively normally. - He learned to walk on a leash, - he willingly explores his environment, - he gets along well with other dogs, avoiding conflicts, - he does not show aggression towards people (fear, freezing) - he accepts treats, which he loves. He is not, however, a fan of human contact, still feels fear, is unsure, petting is not comfortable for him. Due to the lack of socialization, we are looking for a home for Amir without children, in a quiet area, away from the urban noise, which is unfamiliar to him. A home with a well-enclosed yard, preferably with another balanced dog who will support Amir. Can you give a chance at a normal life to a dog who constantly deals with fear? We believe there is a person out there who will love this particular dog! About Amir

What life with Amir looks like

Amir is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amir, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amir?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amir on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amir if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amir already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amir isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amir and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
