adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Amira has found her forever home! Her story: Amira arrived at the shelter in Bistrita with her three sister puppies, Elenor, Tilly, and Neela, and their mother. Previously, the four of them had been struggling to survive on the streets of Romania. Now, we are searching for the perfect home for each of the female puppy sisters. Who will give Amira a loving home? Unlike her sisters, Amira has a completely black glossy coat. A white stripe is only visible on her chest. She is truly a Black Beauty. With her cute floppy ears, she immediately wins over everyone. Amira finds us humans pretty cool too. She greets everyone very friendly and affectionately. Additionally, she is typically playful for a puppy. She also gets along well with other dogs and even cats. As for Amira's mother, she is a hunting dog. It is therefore to be expected that her four puppies carry the hunting genes. It should be noted that hunting dogs are very focused and independent. This can sometimes make it difficult for them to be let off the leash and to be recalled, as they have been bred to ignore distractions and follow their instincts. We are therefore looking for dog owners who are willing to deal with this issue. On the other hand, hunting dogs can sometimes make it easier for them in other areas. For example, hunting dogs often get used to being alone faster due to their independence. However, it must be kept in mind that no dog should be left alone for too long. An optimal home for Amira would be in a more rural area where long walks are on the agenda and where enough mental and physical stimulation can be provided. However, her new family should be aware that Amira has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of her. She needs people who can approach her with love and patience, and may even need to attend positive dog training classes with her and forgive her occasional mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will likely test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Amira will definitely make a great lifelong companion. We hope so much that she can now experience the beautiful sides of life and learn that there are people who only want the best for her. Amira is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial. We would be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Annalena! You named Amira! Date: 29.11.

Vielen Dank an Annalena! Du hast Amira ihren Namen geschenkt. About Amira

What life with Amira looks like

Amira is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
