All cats Amore Print Published: March 18, 2026 Breed: DSH Age: young adult (ca. 2023-24) Gender: male neutered: yes Color: gray tabby husbandry: indoor/outdoor Amore is a stray cat who came to us with a limping gait. He couldn't use his front leg properly, so we took the dear fellow to the veterinary clinic. Further observations are still ongoing, so we can't make a statement about his paw yet. However, the X-ray didn't show any findings. He manages well in everyday life. Amore is a friendly, young tomcat. He loves being stroked and gets along well with his fellow animals. He tends to retreat when they get too boisterous and waits. Perhaps also because he knows that he currently has a handicap. Due to this handicap, we need to see if his character changes a bit once everything is hopefully back to normal. Then we will update or correct his description. Playing and sticking his nose in the air are other hobbies of his. A really great guy. His new home should ideally offer him free roam again in a quiet location after he's acclimated. A nice, social fellow animal would be lovely, but not a must, as we notice that he copes well on his own and finds his friends during free roaming. Would you like to meet Amore? For further information and/or to arrange a visit (or contact with the foster home), please call the animal shelter at. It would be best to call between 9:00 and 12:00 in the morning, and then again between 14:00 and 16:00. Please understand if someone doesn't answer immediately, as our office is not always occupied and the staff are usually busy with animal care. So, please don't give up and try several times.

About Amore

What life with Amore looks like

Amore is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amore, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amore?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amore on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amore if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amore already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amore isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amore and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
