adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Amy is approximately 6 months old and currently weighs around 6.2 kg. She has lived for several weeks in a foster home, where she has already settled into a domestic environment. She shows quick familiarity, people-oriented behavior, and is very clingy. Within the existing pack, Amy sometimes displays mild dominance, for example, by denying the first female dog access to the stairs. Additionally, she defends food and toys and shows resource-guarding behavior. With training, patience, and separate feeding, living together with the existing female dog works well. At the same time, Amy also shows her affectionate side in interactions with fellow animals – she cuddles very much with the first female dog. A pre-existing dog should therefore be confident, calm, and socially secure to handle her behavior. In the outdoor area, Amy is currently still a bit insecure. Environmental stimuli like cars or joggers sometimes unsettle her, so she still needs clear, calm, and confident guidance by her people. Cats should not live in the new home, as Amy shows a pronounced hunting instinct. Amy is a cuddly and affectionate female dog who greatly enjoys the company of humans. She is easy to train, shows a willingness to learn, and is already making progress with basic commands. Visually, she is captivating with her dark brown-black fur, curious eyes, and gentle gaze. Age-appropriately, she is playful, loves to play, and constantly seeks the company of her people to receive cuddles. Of course, like every young dog, Amy – the pubertal phase is still ahead. During this time, she will test boundaries and may temporarily "forget" previously learned behaviors. With loving consistency, patience, and clear structures, she will successfully navigate this phase and grow into a wonderful companion. For Amy, we wish for a loving home where she experiences security, safety, and much affection, and grows up as a full-fledged family member. Amy travels age-appropriately vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and with an EU pet passport after a positive assessment. Who will give the little Amy a warm dog bed and show her how wonderful a dog life can be? A special thank you goes to the namesake Natalie P., who gave Amy her beautiful name. As of: 08.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Amy

What life with Amy looks like

Amy is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
