Amy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Amy is an incredibly loving, people-oriented, and beautiful XL Bully female dog who was surrendered to us due to issues with the Chihuahua in her family. Amy greets every person with overwhelming joy and would love to give out many kisses. Cuddling, snuggling, and playing are her absolute favorites. She would love to have her people around her all the time, so she is not the ideal dog for people who work full-time and would have to leave Amy alone at home regularly. When it comes to other dogs, it’s a different story for Amy – it’s not really her thing. She can get along well with large, stable male dogs and also likes to play with the big boys sometimes. She generally doesn’t like female dogs or small dogs. Her strong prey drive makes things even worse for small dogs. However, Amy is well-behaved on a leash and would never just run off blindly. Amy is very well-trained and can fully utilize her potential with calm, consistent leadership. She is always at least half-attentive to her people and reacts immediately to the slightest body language signals. Amy walks beautifully on a leash, constantly checks back, and has – if you also demand it – excellent impulse control and frustration tolerance. Overall, Amy is a super fun, athletic young Bully girl who just brings along her few breed-specific issues. These, however, are easily manageable by experienced dog owners who can appreciate her good upbringing, her desire to please her people, and her composed, always calm and controlled demeanor. If you are looking for a sporty companion who stands by you in every life situation, you’ve found the right match in Amy. Do you think you are the right person for Amy or would you like to get to know her better?

About Amy

What life with Amy looks like

Amy is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein für Tirol in Innsbruck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: High prey drive, selective with other dogs, needs lots of human companionship, not suitable for full-time workers

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Amy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Amy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein für Tirol handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Amy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Amy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein für Tirol will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Amy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Amy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein für Tirol early rather than rehoming privately; they know Amy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
