Andres

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 14 months

"Isn't that a Jack-Russell Terrier?" This question is familiar to owners of Bodegueros or mixes of this funny Spanish terrier breed, and the answer after "No, it's a Bodeguero." is usually a long, strongly supported by a wide grin, praise of the animal at the end of the leash. The Bodeguero is longer-legged than the Jack-Russell, but that is not the only, and above all not the decisive, difference. Unlike the usually very restless and barking British counterparts, the Bodeguero is considered very balanced - and is often the better companion for children. However, of course, the Spaniard is also a typical terrier: friendly, obedient, hardworking, sometimes a bit stubborn and extremely playful. Also, the prey drive of these funny fellows should not be underestimated, after all, they were specifically bred as rat catchers. Andres is a not entirely purebred Bodeguero, who nevertheless shows all the important characteristics of the funny contemporaries. The 14 month old (as of 04/2023) male dog is very lively, attentive and always up for fun. He learns small tricks like spinning on his paws, and the following praise is almost more important to him than the treat cookie. Andres was rescued on a busy road, where he sought safety between trucks and honking cars. Only a passerby decided not only to avoid the dog, but to stop and take the frightened male dog from the road. Andres thought the idea was great and easily joined his rescuer and on his passenger seat. Now Andres lives in Arca Sevilla and has quickly made friends in all shapes and colors, two- and four-legged, big and small. Unfortunately, so far no one has decided to take the lovable clown home. But that is exactly why you now have the chance to bring the cheerful heartbreaker into your home - and thus a sunbeam on four legs, which will surely bring a smile to your face every day. If you want to give Andres (or one of his Bodeguero buddies) a home, if you are a terrier fan and your heart has already been lost to our Tricolor button, then we look forward to hearing from you soon!

DE·Show original

About Andres

What life with Andres looks like

Andres is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Andres, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Andres?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Andres on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Andres if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Andres already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Andres isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Andres and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
