Adopt Andy (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

In the ages mentioned here, it often involves estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Andy Born May 22, 2018 Male dog, neutered Breed mixed breed Size large, approx. 35 kg foster home Andy has made it!!! We are so happy. Our "little" diamond is moving into its new home. We wish him and his new family a great time together. Andy, our handsome bear, lives on a foster home with six other female dogs and two cats. In the pack, he gets along well, observing other dogs play and finding the shared walks very exciting. Unfortunately, the dear fellow hasn't learned much in his previous life and finds everything very suspicious, such as traffic, leaves rustling in the forest, people approaching him. Walking on a leash, driving a car, being alone, house training… he has already learned all of this in a short time. Bathing and brushing he also knows. Being alone with the pack is no problem; nothing is destroyed, urinated on, or barked at. He has totally attached to his foster mom and follows her everywhere. He is an absolute cuddler and wants to make up for everything missed… that's why he doesn't share "his mom" with the rest of the pack. Clear commands are accepted without complaint. Strangers and new situations are initially found boring. He needs people who can give him empathy, security, and clear instructions, then he will become a great and faithful companion. As he is very oriented towards people, we think he would like to be an only dog in his new home. Children should already be in their teenage years. Cat-experienced cats are no problem. Andy's mother (Alma) did not have a nice life so far… as a "breeding dog" for a shepherd, she produced offspring for him until… she landed in a Spanish killing station with three other children (Abbie, Amber, and Anuk). We rescued her at the last minute, as soon as she arrived at the Spanish foster home, the birth began. Alma and her seven babies (Alana, Alessa, Ayla, Ailin, Andy, Artemis, and Aris) lived initially in Spain on a private foster home and then moved into the small dog shelter of Marcos. All the puppies have now found a family in Germany… only Andy is still eagerly waiting for his people. Unfortunately, he does not learn much about environmental stimuli or people here. Everything that is unfamiliar to him is very suspicious, and he needs people who have the necessary patience and the right way to handle him so that he can learn everything necessary for a happy and exciting life. Who will finally give the dear fellow a chance??? If you are interested in this great dog, please fill out the referral form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. About Andy (vermittelt)

What life with Andy (vermittelt) looks like

Andy (vermittelt) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Andy (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Andy (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Andy (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Andy (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Andy (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Andy (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Andy (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
