Angie

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

📍 Current Location: Lower Austria Angie is a spayed mixed-breed female dog born in January 2020, who was found abandoned as a puppy together with her brother Olli in Serbia and taken in by an animal shelter there. She now lives together with Olli in Lower Austria. The little lady dog has a lively, energetic nature, is always cheerful and in good spirits. As she hasn't had much experience so far, she can sometimes be a bit insecure and shy. She trusts her trusted people incredibly quickly and bonds with them rapidly, being extremely clingy. If she is scared, she seeks protection with your people. She responds perfectly to recall, is leash-friendly, obedient, and house-trained. On walks on the street, she still shows some fear when cars pass by. At home, she can relax well and usually lies very close to her people, preferring to be under the desk. Angie is completely uncomplicated and not demanding - as long as she is loved, stroked a lot, and you take her for cozy nature walks. Unfortunately, a enlarged heart was diagnosed in her, so she needs to take medication. Her greatest wish would be a shared home with her brother Olli, as the two are a perfect match, hang very much on each other, support each other in new situations, and like to play together. Since Olli is afraid of men, we are looking for a female household for the two siblings. She is compatible with fellow animals and behaves neutrally towards them. How she reacts to cats is unknown. Walks well on a leash.

About Angie

What life with Angie looks like

Angie is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Austria in Wien.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Angie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Angie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Angie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Angie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Angie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Angie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Angie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
