Anika

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Anika is a beautiful black female dog. She has been in the Perrera for over 2 years waiting for her people to give her a loving home. Anika is initially unsure, but she is also curious and bravely navigates through the new situation. She is very attentive and observes everything closely. On walks, she runs calmly on a leash and reads the dog newspaper intensely. Anika does not bark and is gentle in her interactions. She gets along well with other dogs, but cats would need to be tested. A family with older children would be ideal. Update Foster Home Spain: When Anika arrived at our home, we expected a timid and anxious dog. But from the first moment she was confident, very affectionate and cheerful. We introduced her to our dogs, and everything went smoothly. Some dogs that have spent so many years in shelters are afraid of entering a house, but for Anika it's no problem, and she enjoys being part of the family. She is very clean at home. It's important not to leave food within her reach as she would steal it otherwise. Now that it's warmer, our door stays open at night, and during the day Anika does not bark. As soon as it gets dark, she becomes a watchdog and barks loudly. And she often steals blankets, clothes, shoes... and tears them apart. She is a bit jealous; when you pet another dog, she comes running to be petted too. She is also sensitive; sometimes she jumps at a touch but quickly forgets about it again. For us, this is all quite normal. She behaves like a puppy and makes experiences that she never had in the shelter. It's amazing how happy she is despite everything.

About Anika

What life with Anika looks like

Anika is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
