Animal 600.039

Female

Following a new intake through our inspection service, our shelter is currently housing 6 adorable Russian hamsters (4 females and 2 males) who are each looking for a responsible and loving family. What you need to know: The Russian hamster is a charming small rodent, but it requires appropriate living conditions. It is a solitary animal: it must not live with other hamsters as an adult, as this can lead to conflicts. It is also nocturnal, so it is active in the evening and night, which may be disturbing if its enclosure is in a bedroom. Its habitat must be sufficiently spacious, with a good thickness of bedding for digging, as well as essential accessories such as a full wheel, hideouts, and chew toys. A cage that is too small or lacking in stimulation can quickly harm its well-being. We recommend setting up an old aquarium or terrarium to become a "hamsterium." Its diet must be varied and low in sugar, as this species is prone to diabetes. A high-quality seed mix, supplemented with fresh vegetables and a little protein, is preferred. Water must always be available. Finally, the Russian hamster is a delicate animal that requires gentleness and patience to be tamed. It may bite if stressed, and it is not always suitable for young children. Its lifespan is short (about 1.5 to 3 years), which remains a commitment to consider seriously before adoption. Photos of the facilities will be required for any adoption.

Frequently asked

Adopting Animal 600.039, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Animal 600.039?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SRPA Liege handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Animal 600.039 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Animal 600.039 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SRPA Liege will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Animal 600.039 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Animal 600.039 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SRPA Liege early rather than rehoming privately; they know Animal 600.039 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
