Nela

Havanese · Female

Nela – small cuddly princess seeks her forever home. The charming 3-year-old female dog Nela is a small but with a big heart. At just 28 cm shoulder height and 4.5 kg, she belongs to the more delicate representatives of her breed – for all the more love and affection she brings. Nela is a true snuggle hound, always preferring to be in the company of her people. She enjoys every bit of attention, loves cuddle sessions on the sofa, and would like to accompany her primary caregiver everywhere. Anyone looking for a loyal little companion will find a wonderful lifelong friend in Nela. Even with her environment, the friendly female dog shows herself to be completely uncomplicated. She gets along excellently with other dogs, gets along well with cats, and meets children openly and affectionately. Her friendly and balanced nature makes her a pleasant companion for many different life situations. Unfortunately, Nela has already experienced that life circumstances can change. She had already had a home, but her owner fell seriously ill and could no longer take care of her. Reluctantly, she had to give Nela back. Now, the small female dog is waiting for people who will give her a permanent safe and loving home. Nela is ready to travel to her new life. What she still needs now is a family that opens its heart to this lovely little female dog. Anyone who adopts Nela will receive a friendly, cuddly, and loyal companion who would love nothing more than to be loved and to give love back. When Nela travels, she is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, neutered, has all veterinary pre-examinations, and an up-to-date Mediterranean test. Warning: A dog often behaves differently in the animal shelter than in the new home – setbacks are not uncommon. It requires a lot of love and patience from you. Please adopt only if you are aware and prepared to take responsibility for him/her for his/her entire life.

About Nela

What life with Nela looks like

Nela is a small adult havanese dog waiting at Hundehoffnung-Berlin in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nela, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nela?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundehoffnung-Berlin handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nela on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nela if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundehoffnung-Berlin will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nela already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nela isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundehoffnung-Berlin early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nela and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
