Adopt Anouk

Mixed Breed · Female

Black dogs have a whole range of advantages, some of which are more or less scientifically proven: Black dogs emit more heat than white dogs, making them real energy savers in winter, if you snuggle up closely to them. Moreover, they are much easier to spot in the snow and do not get dirty as quickly. On black clothing, their hair is not so easily visible - a real advantage, if I think of visitors in my rather light-dog-dominated household who make the mistake of getting comfortable on my sofa with black pants! Moreover, a black dog makes you look slimmer and matches any outfit. Well, enough of that: it is certain that black dogs have significantly worse adoption chances (this is solid statistics), although there is no real reason to prefer a light-colored dog over a black one. Anouk was abandoned, which, given that she is most likely a Labrador mix, is rather rare, as Labradors and their mixes are much more appreciated as family dogs in Spain than, for example, Galgos or Podencos. It is what it is, and now the friendly female dog is living with our partners and spreading her charm like no other. The funny lady is probably not yet a year old and gets along well with her four-legged friends. Playful, sociable and always in a good mood - these are attributes that best describe our Anouk. In addition, she is very clingy and affectionate towards people and shows no fear at all. Begging for affection and food? Typical Lab - the parade disciplines of our beautiful young pup! Of course, Anouk is highly intelligent and will surely learn the basics of dog training in no time, she already walks well on a leash and enjoys the rare walks to the fullest. Now all that's missing for Anouk's happiness is a loving, active and fun family that stands by her through thick and thin, who can be her hot water bottle, tissue box and friend in all life situations. Well, are you smitten? No wonder, if you ask me. The girl with the beautiful brown eyes will certainly cause envious glances in your neighborhood...

About Anouk

What life with Anouk looks like

Anouk is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anouk, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anouk?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anouk on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anouk if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anouk already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anouk isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anouk and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
