Anselmo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

04-13-2018 - Cat Anselmo is doing well, recovering from the surgery. He's a great little cat, we are treating his anemia and hope he finds a home soon, he can't stay in the cage much longer. Thank you to those who help with veterinary costs! 03-09-2018 - Today Anselmo was operated on, the veterinarians stabilized the ileus with a plate. The operation went very well, now he needs to rest peacefully during the post-operative period. The veterinary costs we face every day are huge and we thank anyone who can help us. We receive no help from institutions but we can help these animals only thanks to the donations of our supporters, of you. 02-28-2018 - Anselmo was brought to the clinic today, he became jaundiced and probably there is an underlying vector-borne disease. X-rays showed a fracture of the left ileum with detachment of the mandibular symphysis that was fixed, a fracture of the maxillary portion that was manually realigned and now he must get through this phase of jaundice and then we can take care of the fractures in the pelvis. The analysis results revealed a immune-mediated anemia. We will do everything possible to save him, the situation is very serious, he is a wonderful cat but no one has looked for him. Thank you to anyone who wants to help us with the medical expenses that are many, really many for us... 02-27-2018 - He arrived at the animal shelter yesterday evening around 11:00 PM. He was hit by a car and the vehicle that hit him didn't even stop. He was brought to us, for the animals with no one, we are a clinic, it's a pity though that we even pay for the air we breathe. He has a mandibular fracture. Tomorrow he will go to the clinic for the necessary diagnostic tests. His situation is very serious. Thank you to those who support us, we are really exhausted. We need specific food, such as Royal Recovery. As soon as we have news, it will be our duty to update you.

Grazie a chi ci sosterrà noi siamo veramente sfiniti.

About Anselmo

What life with Anselmo looks like

Anselmo is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anselmo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anselmo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anselmo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anselmo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anselmo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anselmo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anselmo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
