Anthony

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Anthony is a mixed-breed male dog, probably born in April 2026, who was found abandoned with his siblings and brought to the animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. He now lives near Vienna. Anthony is a friendly and cheerful little dog. Initially, he is still anxious and cautious. He needs some time to get used to new people and situations and build trust with his caregiver. But whoever gives him this time will experience how he gradually thaws and opens his big heart. Once he has gained trust, he shows his loving and affectionate side. Then he enjoys the closeness of his people and develops a close, loyal bond with them. Anthony walks nicely on a leash, masters the city routine without problems, but prefers relaxed walks in the countryside. He gets along well with his fellow dogs, but needs to learn to play with them. It is not known whether he knows cats and how he reacts to them. Anthony would be a lovable family dog and would also feel comfortable in families with understanding children. He wants active people who have enough free time to train with him and show him how beautiful and versatile life can be. The male has a shoulder height of 20 cm and weighs 9 kg.

About Anthony

What life with Anthony looks like

Anthony is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Austria in Wien.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anthony, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anthony?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anthony on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anthony if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Anthony already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anthony isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anthony and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
