ANTON, ehem. Loui

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Anton has found his home! His story: Anton has already lost his home twice! He is eagerly waiting at the animal shelter Detmold for his forever people. When will the poor fellow finally arrive? Anton originally came from Zalau in Romania and was found alone on a field. In a pension, he then waited for his own home… Anton is currently around 3 years old and has a lot of life ahead of him. His shoulder height is currently around 55 cm. Anton is a German Shepherd-Mix and is therefore looking for people who not only physically but also mentally challenge him. German Shepherds want to be challenged and are faithful companions. Anton has already learned a little bit, such as being able to stay alone for a while and knowing a few basic commands. A confident second dog could help Anton settle in. Anton still has a lot to learn. He is very insecure and needs experienced people who can give him security and support. He likes clear and fair communication because then he is a cooperative dog. In situations he cannot assess or when he is pressured, unfortunately, he has learned to resolve these with the use of his teeth. But with the right people and a positively reinforcing training style, this will also be under control, because Anton is not aggressive, but very insecure. He should not be with small children or small animals. The handsome male dog has earned the right to finally arrive. Our Anton is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated and has his EU Companion Animal Passport. Stand: 13.10.

About ANTON, ehem. Loui

What life with ANTON, ehem. Loui looks like

ANTON, ehem. Loui is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting ANTON, ehem. Loui, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ANTON, ehem. Loui?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ANTON, ehem. Loui on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ANTON, ehem. Loui if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ANTON, ehem. Loui already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ANTON, ehem. Loui isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know ANTON, ehem. Loui and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
