adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Antonia has found her forever home! Her story: Kuschelalarm! The super cuddly Antonia has been living with her foster family in Germany since early January. She is a small, rather delicate female dog with soft, black fur and a white marking on her paws and chest. With her shiny, black button eyes, she looks straight into your heart. Antonia is settling in well and in the already familiar environment, she is playful and very cuddly. Her favorite spot is her foster mom's lap or tummy. From the start, Antonia got along well with the existing first dog. Ponies and chickens are also part of her life, and she shows no prey drive towards them. She already sleeps through the night and is house-trained, which surprised us all. At first, Antonia was a bit reserved towards strangers, but her curiosity always prevails, making this only a temporary phase. The big world outside is still a bit daunting for Antonia, as the sound of the street and everyday noises still unsettle her a little. However, she does not panic but rather seeks safety with her people. She is also slowly getting used to walks and car rides. What's remarkable is that the little Antonia understands what is expected of her right away, she is very eager to learn. Right now, Antonia is simply a wonderful and sweet puppy that craves love and attention. But her puberty won't be far off, and this is also a time when loving and consistent training is necessary for her development. We recommend that Antonia's new family work with a positively trained dog class. Patient and loving training will benefit her development and strengthen the bond with her trusted people. Originally from Romania, Baia Mare, Antonia was found as a puppy with her sister Leeda and was brought to safety in a Romanian foster home. Do you have a place in your heart for Antonia? After a positive match, a special thank you goes to the namesake Andrea K., who gave Antonia her beautiful name and thus her own identity. As of January 14. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 14.01.2025

About Antonia

What life with Antonia looks like

Antonia is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Antonia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Antonia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Antonia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Antonia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Antonia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Antonia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Antonia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
