Antonio

Male · Adult · 5 years

At the end of July, we were finally able to travel to Sardinia ourselves again to visit our partners and the cats and dogs. Almost six months had passed since our last visit to the island due to the lockdown caused by Corona and the unclear travel situation over many weeks. While our partners had kept us updated with images and information about new arrivals, the personal contact and meeting the dogs and cats in person had been greatly missed. The three little tomcats Adriano, Antonio, and Arnaldo were found in a pitiful state in one of the colonies in the northeast of Sardinia. All three had severe eye infections. Thanks to intensive treatment by our colleague on-site, these have now subsided. Although there are some remaining eye opacities, none of the young tomcats has gone blind. Despite their poor start in life, the trio is very lively, typically playful kittens, trusting, and cuddly. On October 26, 2020, Antonio arrived in Germany with Arnaldo and Adriano. Now, the young tomcats only need nice people who want to adopt them. Antonio has developed into a handsome young tomcat in his foster home. Like his brothers, the lively young tomcat enjoys playing for hours. Together, the three hatch all sorts of mischief and turn the apartment into a racetrack. His clouded, almost blind eye does not hinder him at all. Antonio is very people-oriented, clingy, and cuddly. He is closely bonded with Arnaldo; they always snuggle together in a bed or on the sofa. For this reason, Antonio would very much like to move to his permanent home with Arnaldo. In January 2025, Antonio and Arnaldo found a lovely place together on January 27, 2021. Now, almost exactly four years later, we are looking for a new, equally great home for the two brothers. Due to an allergy diagnosis, they unfortunately cannot stay with their current family. Antonio and Arnaldo have become even more affectionate; they enjoy being close to their humans and relish their attention. They also get along well with other animals; in their previous home, the family had expanded to include a puppy. Apart from their minor handicaps—Antonio's nearly blind eye and Arnaldo's slight ataxia—they are both absolutely healthy, cheerful, and life-loving tiger cats. They will only be rehomed together. Would you like to give Arnaldo and Antonio their permanent home? We look forward to your message. Both will only be rehomed in a setup suitable for apartment living, ideally with a secured balcony or terrace.

About Antonio

What life with Antonio looks like

Antonio is a adult cat waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Antonio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Antonio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Antonio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Antonio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Antonio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Antonio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Antonio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
