Adopt Anuk (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Often, the ages mentioned here are estimated values as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Anuk, born in December 2017, male dog, mixed breed, medium to large size, foster home. Anuk made it. The gentle giant convinced his new family completely. She couldn't resist his wonderful character and embraced him directly into her heart. We wish our giant baby and his new pack a wonderful, exciting, and above all, worry-free time together. In the gallery, you'll find a photo of Anuk on-site, at arrival, at the foster home, and also some from his new home. What an odyssey Anuk and his buddy Azrael had… from the kill shelter to the small dog pension of Marcos in Almeria. Then to a dog shelter in Germany, then to a foster home, and fortunately, finally to his family. Unfortunately, there were some initial difficulties, but the family worked with him and… what can we say… they made it together. Anuk is a reserved, somewhat insecure dog who warms up relatively quickly. He is currently together with Azrael in a dog shelter. There, he shows himself as a gentle giant. He is compatible with other dogs and shows no food aggression. His first car ride was well managed, and despite not knowing leash collars and harnesses, he walks politely on a leash. He loves lying in the grass and observing everything around him. A garden would be a nice addition for him. Since Anuk is very oriented towards his current companion, Azrael, we could see Anuk well as a second dog to an independent only dog. Anuk needs people who give him the necessary security and show him with empathy and gentleness what adventures await him. Then he will have a close bond with his people and be a great buddy who goes through thick and thin with them. His gaze reveals that he is only waiting to show his people what is in him. Anuk could now move to a foster home. He lives there with four other dogs, all smaller than he is, and some cats. From the first day, he is house-trained and signals when he needs to go. With his dog buddies, he also stays alone sometimes. He loves towels, shoes, and blankets, which he likes to take outside. At times, he can be a real clown. During walks, he leads in the field on a lead and does it very well. He shows no prey drive. He is oriented towards his pack and finds praise in the form of treats just as delightful as cuddles. He lets himself be bathed, his paws cleaned, and brushed. Anuk is a nice guy who definitely brings joy and a few smiles to his people, especially when he is in play mode with his somewhat awkward manner. We hope he finds his people soon who can give him enough mental stimulation and attention so he can lead an appropriate dog life. Here are a few pictures. About Anuk (vermittelt)

What life with Anuk (vermittelt) looks like

Anuk (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Anuk (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anuk (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anuk (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anuk (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anuk (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anuk (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anuk (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
