Anwen

Beagle · Female · Adult · 4 years

Anwen is an absolute darling girl. We’ve been calling her our "micro beagle" because of her size!Anwen is around 4 years old and a tiny little girl, weighing just 8.5kg. She has the sweetest, most affectionate nature and genuinely loves everyone she meets. Anwen is incredibly adaptable and can live anywhere, whether that's the city, an urban neighborhood, or out in the countryside. She gets on brilliantly with every single dog she meets, but she doesn’t rely on them for company, so she can live either with or without another dog. Anwen also seems like she'd be fine with cats; she looks at them but has no interest in chasing them. As she is incredibly gentle, we think she could easily live with children aged 5 and older. When you take her out, she is a typical busy beagle—her nose is constantly glued to the ground, but she doesn't pull and is very easy to manage on the lead. Her toilet training is still a bit of a work in progress, and she will definitely need a home with a secure garden. Her recall isn't there yet because she just gets completely lost in her sniffing! When she's done with her walks, she is a very independent, relaxed girl who will happily take herself off to bed when she wants to unwind. Anwen is a lovely, genuinely low-maintenance girl who ticks every single box. Adoption Details: • Location: You will need to be able to visit our kennels in North Cork to meet her. • Other Pets: If you already have a dog, you’ll need to bring them along for a meet-and-greet. • The Basics: A standard adoption fee and home visit apply. Anwen comes fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and treated for parasites.

About Anwen

What life with Anwen looks like

Anwen is a very small adult beagle dog waiting at HART Animal Rescue Ireland in Cork.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Anwen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Anwen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. HART Animal Rescue Ireland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Anwen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Anwen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — HART Animal Rescue Ireland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Anwen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Anwen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with HART Animal Rescue Ireland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Anwen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
