Apollo

Male · Adult · 5 years

Apollo is a big black dog who acts calmly, balanced... and exactly like that, he really is. No unnecessary drama, no exaggerated reactions - more of a laid-back guy who just quietly observes the world. He is very friendly and affectionate with people, enjoys being petted and seeks human company. He also has no problem with other dogs - he usually ignores them and keeps his calm distance. He is clever and obedient, knows basic commands and can pleasantly surprise you when called - instead of running normally, he calmly "backs up" all the way to your leg, as if it were his own special discipline. He loves toys - large balls, balloons, or stuffed animals that he happily carries in his mouth. He is a gentle giant who knows how to play, but also knows how to relax quietly. Apollo has had skin problems and is still being treated to keep his coat in good condition. In the future, this should be taken into account and care should continue according to recommendations. We are looking for a home for him, preferably with a garden, where he will receive love, peace and at the same time the opportunity for movement - because even though he is a laid-back guy, he likes walks and activities. Apollo is simply a dog who won't bring chaos into life, but peace, loyalty and quiet companionship.

CS·Show original

About Apollo

What life with Apollo looks like

Apollo is a large adult dog waiting at Útulek Přerov in Přerov-Přerov 2.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Apollo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Apollo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Přerov handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Apollo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Apollo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Přerov will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Apollo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Apollo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Přerov early rather than rehoming privately; they know Apollo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
