Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

APOLO - a playful boy - male dog, 6 years old, born ca. January 2020, SH 61 cm, 26 kg, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, EU-Pass. - Waiting in Spain! The handsome Apolo is a young and active dog who has not had much luck in his life so far and has never lived with a family. We estimate that he was born in January 2020. He is of medium size and has a lot of love to give, but his new humans should be experienced with dogs rather than beginners. His backstory: Apolo was tied to a tree until a friend of the animal shelter saw him and decided to help him get a better life. Since August 2021, Apolo has been part of the family at the animal shelter, where he has met all the four-legged friends and volunteers who snuggle and shower him with all the love he deserves. His character and veterinary aspects: Our young one, aside from being very handsome, has a very friendly character and is very playful. He has a lot of energy and a lot of fun with all the other dogs at the shelter. He gets along well with male dogs as well as female dogs. He is also smart and obedient and is slowly learning to control his energy - thanks to the help of the volunteers and the other dogs. He is really very loving. Apolo is healthy. He is tested negative for Erliquia, Filaria, and Leishmaniosis. He has a chip, EU-Pass, all vaccinations, is dewormed, and sterilized. Apolo is in the care of the Spanish association Refugio escuela Marlene in Sevilla, Spain. - Info and Contact, Jessica: email: - Help with translation or contact: Fabienne Albessard, email: - - includes veterinary costs, transport, and trace. About APOLO

What life with APOLO looks like

APOLO is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Step by Paw e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting APOLO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about APOLO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Step by Paw e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw APOLO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt APOLO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Step by Paw e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is APOLO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if APOLO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Step by Paw e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know APOLO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
