April

German Spitz · Female · Puppy · 9 months

April is only around 10 months old and has already gone through so much in her start of life. She has little experience of the outdoors so will need a patient family that can gradually introduce the basics and more. This includes housetraining and car travel. April will be ok being left alone for a few hours but will benefit from having a safe space in the home where she can retreat to. She has come on in leaps and bounds, and once a relationship has been formed she even enjoys a snuggle. April is one of our lovely Spitz group, who originally came into us from a welfare situation and has recently become a mother. All pups have found their homes so now it's time for her to find her forever home too. Due to her nervous nature, she is looking for a home where children are secondary school aged. April has lived with dogs all her life but is unsure about pooches outside of her original group. She has potential to live with a calm/confident dog who can act as a role model. She also has potential to live with cats, pending a successful scent swap and gradual introductions in the home.

About April

What life with April looks like

April is a puppy/kitten german spitz dog waiting at Dogs Trust Evesham in Evesham.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting April, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about April?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Evesham handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw April on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt April if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Evesham will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is April already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if April isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Evesham early rather than rehoming privately; they know April and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
