Archie

Greyhound · Male

Could you be my perfect match? Hello! My name is I can live with Dogs Cats Children MY story Archie is a wonderful big greyhound with a typical greyhound nature! He is extemely sweet and a very laid back boy. Archie is house clean and a well-behaved guest in his foster home. He enjoys walks and long afternoon naps. He lives with two other lurcher boys and is very well behaved with them, he enjoys a little play and then back to snoozing! He travels well in the car and recently passed a health check at the vets. He has an old leg injury from being raced before this that has been operated on and is all ok. Archie does having a racing history so no small furries please! Here's what his foster mum says: Archie has settled well into a foster home with two other male sighthounds. No food aggression or any dog aggression shown. Typical greyhound- loves his food and loves his comfort- very quickly has made the sofa his choice of seating. Clean in the house. Not too confident on the stairs- good going up but still a work in progress getting back down! Gets into the car and travels well in the car now(although perhaps a larger car would be useful!!🤣) Good with other dogs when out on a walk and loves people. Walks beautifully on the lead - unless there’s a squirrel in sight! I can manage the three large boys with one hand. Rarely barks. Takes treats nicely and tends to keep all four feet on the floor when he’s greeting you which is a relief as he’s as tall as I am! Very cuddly in the house and good recall outside. Typical counter surfer- often find things squirrelled away in his bed though non destructive- just a thief! He would like to live with another dog although not essential. Doesn’t need loads of exercise. Archie is a very lovely and loving dog- well regulated emotionally- will walk away from confrontation rather than escalate it. He’s got a really good, kind nature and positive attitude to life. MY PERFECT HOME Archie needs a secure garden with 6ft fencing minimum and no gaps at all.As with all dogs on going training will be needed. Archie can live with dogs, no cats and children 12+ please. About Archie

What life with Archie looks like

Archie is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at Angels 4 Dogs Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Archie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Archie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Angels 4 Dogs Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Archie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Archie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Angels 4 Dogs Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Archie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Archie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Angels 4 Dogs Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Archie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
