Adopt Ares

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Breed: Cane Corso. Gender: male/neutered. Age: born 12/20/2021. Weight: approx. 45 kg. In the animal shelter since: 01/08/2026. Special Features: Ares is a beautiful Cane Corso male dog, born on 12/20/2021, who is now looking for a loving and breed-experienced home. This impressive male dog is still in the process of building up: He needs to gain more weight and muscle, which is already being well-supported. For this, Ares receives special food that he tolerates very well and will continue to benefit him in the future. Ares is a friendly and sensitive dog. He initially meets strangers with some uncertainty but quickly warms up and shows himself to be open and friendly. With his trusted people, he is very clingy, cuddly, and enjoys being close. He is pleasant to handle, can be easily touched, and generally shows cooperation and a human-oriented nature. Ares loves walks – preferably long and leisurely. His leash behavior can still be further developed, but the current focus is deliberately on his physical development and stabilization. Ares is seeking people who can provide him with time, patience, and security, and who have experience with the characteristics and needs of the Cane Corso breed. We would like to see him in a home with a house and garden, as well as ample opportunities for exercise and activity. Whoever offers Ares a structured, loving environment will get a loyal companion with a big heart, who bonds closely with his people and wants to be part of a family.

Rasse: Cane Corso. Geschlecht: männlich/kastriertAlter: geb. 20.12.2021.

About Ares

What life with Ares looks like

Ares is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbersdorf in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ares, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ares?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbersdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ares on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ares if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbersdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ares already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ares isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbersdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ares and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
