Adopt Aria

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

About 1 year old (born around May 2, 2025), 41 cm, 9.6 kg, female, neutered Leishmaniosetest positive—still in the animal shelter in Spain Aria – a sensitive lady with potential Aria is a very special female dog who, in her life, likely never experienced how beautiful closeness, security, and trust can be. When she arrived at our partner shelter, she was full of fear. She barely allowed herself to be touched, and putting a leash on her was impossible. For the first few days, she could only follow the run freely because no one came near her. But Aria showed how much was in her. Step by step, she began to trust. Today, she approaches people cautiously, takes treats from their hands, and allows herself to be stroked. She now runs well on a leash and can accompany her walks in the countryside without problems. It is especially beautiful to see how she has bloomed in the run: From the frightened female dog who initially only crouched in a corner, she has become a cheerful young soul who loves to play. She gets along well with other animals and closely follows their lead. Aria's future home needs people with patience and heart—people who give her the time to continue growing and to learn the beautiful sides of life. Once she has gained trust, she opens up more and more. A quiet home with a garden would be ideal for her. She could live as a single dog, but a confident, friendly dog companion would certainly help her and provide additional security. Aria also needs special people by her side: she is Leishmaniasis-positive, but her liver and kidney values are good. She needs her medication daily. Additionally, she has an older fracture in a leg that was not clarified in Spain. Perhaps something could still be done for her in Switzerland. For Aria, we wish for a small miracle: people who show her that the world is not just made of fear. People who bring patience, celebrate small progress, and finally give this gentle female dog the home she so deserves. Her story Her past is sad: When Maria, the shelter director, found Aria in Perrera, she was completely terrified in a corner. It was said that she was "wild," likely born on the streets in a rural area and not accustomed to people. But Maria saw more in her—and she was right. Soon after, Aria began to cautiously make contact and orient herself to other dogs. Videos May 26:

Videos Mai 26:

About Aria

What life with Aria looks like

Aria is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aria, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aria?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aria on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aria if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aria already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aria isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aria and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
