Arina

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Arina is a three-year-old spayed female dog from Romania who brings a lot of life with her lively and intelligent nature. She is generally compatible with other dogs, but gets along better with male dogs. She lives with Yoshi, whom she loves dearly. The two play incredibly well together and show how much Arina enjoys dog company. She is initially a bit reserved with strangers, but usually warms up quickly. She enjoys being petted by her caregivers and shows her affectionate side. Arina is an active dog who loves going for walks and wants to experience things with her humans. She is intelligent, learns quickly, and has the best prerequisites for discovering the world with her humans. However, she is still a bit uncertain in new situations or with unfamiliar stimuli. She needs people who can give her security, patiently introduce her to new things, and give her the time she needs. Her leash manners still need work. We wish Arina a home in a relatively quiet residential area, as city life would not be right for her. Children should be at least twelve years old and have an understanding of a dog that needs support in some situations. Arina still needs to learn about life in a house, driving a car, and being alone. Her new people should therefore be patient and enjoy teaching her step by step everything that belongs to a shared daily routine. A confident first-time dog owner would be nice and could help Arina in new situations, but it is not a requirement. She would surely enjoy a secure garden where she can run around to her heart's content. However, this is not a must as long as she gets enough opportunities for activity elsewhere. Arina is looking for people who enjoy a lively, eager-to-learn dog and want to grow with her. She brings a few uncertainties with her, but has a lot of potential and can become a great companion with the right guidance.

DE·Show original

About Arina

What life with Arina looks like

Arina is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Darmstadt in Darmstadt.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Darmstadt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Darmstadt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Arina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Darmstadt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
