Adopt Aris (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

The ages mentioned here are often estimated values, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information like size is subjective. Aris was born on May 22, 2018. Gender: male. Breed: mixed breed (mother: Alma). Growing to medium size, weight by the end of July: 5-6 kg. Foster home: Aris has snuck into the heart of his foster family and can now be called a permanent family member ;o) We wish Aris and his family all love and good fortune for their shared future!!! The handsome giant was lucky and got to stay at his foster home with the intention of being kept. Aris's mother (Alma) did not have a nice life before….as a "breeding dog" with a shepherd, she produced offspring for him, until…. she was sent to a Spanish culling station with three other puppies (Abbie, Amber, and Anuk). We rescued her at the last minute, as soon as she arrived at the Spanish foster home, the birth began. Now, Alma and her 7 puppies (Alana, Alessa, Ayla, Ailin, Andy, Artemis, and Aris) live in Spain at a private foster home. She is a great mother and a cuddly female dog. All the puppies have already survived their first vaccinations and are growing almost by the minute. In September, they will be old enough to embark on their journey to Germany. The rascals are lively, friendly with people, and of course, playful. We are very happy that we could give them a good start in their lives and are now looking for responsible people who are aware of what it means to take in a puppy as a family member and who have the time and joy to work through the "dog 101" together. We are looking for a foster home in the Mainz-Wiesbaden area for Aris, perhaps with the option of adopting him if he fits in? Here are a few pictures. To enlarge, please click on an image.

About Aris (vermittelt)

What life with Aris (vermittelt) looks like

Aris (vermittelt) is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aris (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aris (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aris (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aris (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aris (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aris (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aris (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
