adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The winters in Romania are usually brutally cold, and the fact that there are people who still leave dogs, even puppies, out in freezing temperatures allows our hearts to freeze. The little Arlo was discovered with his mother and three siblings on a field – shivering, hungry, and desperate. The rescue of the family likely occurred at the last second. Arlo is currently recovering from the hardships at a Romanian foster home and learning the first lessons of the puppy ABC. Despite the terrible experiences, Arlo shows a very friendly, playful, and people-friendly nature. Any initial insecurities or a certain shyness towards strangers usually disappear quite quickly when Arlo senses that there is nothing to fear. He gets along well with other dogs, but we cannot yet say how Arlo reacts to cats. Given the likely presence of herding dog genes, Arlo can only grow up in the countryside with a house and a large, beautiful garden. HSH-Fellnasen were once bred to watch over or protect livestock herds, which means they display a strong territorial behavior and require both mental and physical exertion. Clear rules and clear leadership are absolutely necessary. Arlo should be rehomed with experienced dog owners. Additionally, it should be noted that puberty will likely begin in a few weeks or months. During this hormonal transition phase, defiance or forgetfulness may occur. After the end of puberty, Arlo will most likely be a loyal companion and dream partner. Has Arlo already captured your heart in a storm? His luggage is packed. He would naturally be overjoyed to join a foster home. Many thanks, Oli. You have given Arlo a beautiful name and thus a valuable identity. Status: 08.02. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Arlo sollte entsprechend an erfahrene Hunde-Halterinnen bzw. About Arlo

What life with Arlo looks like

Arlo is a extra-large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
