Arlo

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Young · 2 years

Very relaxed, he stands out by a complete absence of fear, instead showing great self-confidence and a playful nature, especially in the presence of humans. He has a particular affection for ball games, an activity he greatly enjoys. He allows himself to be handled without growling, although he is very active. Patience is recommended! He has not yet learned basic commands, which means some education is necessary to improve his behavior. He is sociable with both females and neutered males, and takes great pleasure in lively games. However, his way of playing, sometimes a bit rough, may not suit all other animals of the same species. Arlo no longer barks when he meets another dog on a leash, which shows a positive development in his behavior. Furthermore, he proves very pleasant during walks and hikes, as he is able to adapt to the person holding the leash, making outings rather enjoyable. Arlo can stay indoors and shows very good hygiene. He knows how to eat calmly and shows neither aggression nor tension around food. He particularly enjoys the company of adults and calms down in a stable, clear, and calm environment. Very young children, however, should be avoided, as he is too rough and dominant with them. Initially, Arlo was not familiar with certain daily noises, such as those from the washing machine or roller shutters. These noises were gradually introduced in a reassuring and explanatory environment, which helped him to integrate them well. During the trial period, meals were taken at a height and Arlo learned to stay on his mat while humans ate, proving his ability to adapt and learn. Arlo is a good dog who shows a strong interest in cuddles and will surely become indispensable to his future masters.

FR·Show original

About Arlo

What life with Arlo looks like

Arlo is a medium-sized young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Sans Collier Provence in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Sans Collier Provence handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Sans Collier Provence will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Sans Collier Provence early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
