Adopt Aron

Male · Adult · 7 years

If you are a person without dog experience looking for a friendly, small dog, then you should leave Aron's profile now. Aron is not just small, although you should never tell him that... Inside, Aron feels at least like a lion or dragon. But it hasn't helped. Aron has always been underestimated because he looks so incredibly cute. He has a strong will, is persistent, and gets very angry when not understood. Aron has never really had stability in his life. At his second-to-last home, domestic violence against his owner's wife took place, and Aron suffered, wanting to protect his mistress. At the last home, the owner's psyche was also severely unstable, and Aron suffered greatly here as well... Back at our animal shelter, Aron seamlessly fit into the shelter routine. Of course, he would much rather have a home with his own person. But what is truly essential for Aron are people who can really handle dogs. Aron communicates very clearly, albeit with very fine physical cues. Uncertain, unclear people make him truly afraid. If he is pressured by such people, he can also snap. Here at the animal shelter, he tests his handlers for leadership quality, going only with those he feels are truly strong, stable people. People who understand him, have a clear leadership line, and act confidently are adored by Aron. Then he is really ready to give everything, is motivated, listens, has patience, and becomes soft and very quiet. If Aron is unhappy, he is loud, demanding, puffy, extorts treats, and stalks his people. Aron is incredibly funny, sensitive, well-mannered, and cooperative with the right people. With his fellow animals, Aron gets along well, provided it is clear that he is the boss. Dogs that submit to him find Aron great. Aron does not know children, and we do not see him in a household with children. Perhaps dog-experienced cats in the household could be okay, and a suitable female dog would be very much appreciated. Aron is incredibly greedy, he is too fat and needs to lose weight, which upsets him ;-). He steals, begs, and offers all sorts of tricks and stunts for a treat. Here, one must remain steadfast, the little troll has a huge charm. Aron rides well in the car, enjoys hiking, but is not overly athletic. Aron now needs the right people who understand him and will never leave him.

About Aron

What life with Aron looks like

Aron is a small adult dog waiting at Tierheim Koblenz in Koblenz.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aron, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aron?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Koblenz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aron on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aron if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Koblenz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aron already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aron isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Koblenz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aron and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
