Arona (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Name: Arona Born: ca. 2022 Gender: female dog, neutered Breed: mixed breed Size: ca. 40 cm Foster home: Arona made the jump to a foster home with adoption intentions 🙂 and has won everyone's hearts in a matter of days 😉 She has found her forever home. Live well, little Arona. The age mentioned here is often an estimated value, as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. The pretty female dog lives at the moment in a small Romanian animal shelter. The animal protection colleagues on site write about her: No, Arona is no fox, she is definitely a dog. The dear girl didn't have a nice life before she came to us. Her owner kept her in Făcălețeț, a small village about 10 km away from us, on a short 50 cm chain, fed her only with old bread, and sometimes gave her a little water. Otherwise, he simply didn't care about her. The best thing this man ever did for her was to give her to us. She looked pitiful when she came to us, but she had not lost her trust in humans, albeit in a reserved manner. She quickly realized we meant her well and we want to give her a dog-friendly life. What must she have endured in the first 2 years of her life! Normally, such a dog would cower in a corner out of fear, but not Arona! She is curious, playful, and she is happy, albeit cautiously, to have human contact. She needs her own home with people who truly care about her! Our pretty female dog has developed so well. She loves people and is also compatible with cats and other dogs. She knows house life. We are looking for people who are willing to take on the adventure of an international dog and give her a second chance at a responsible home. If you are interested in this wonderful dog, please fill out the Referral Form or call us at the phone number provided. Here are a few pictures. Click an image to enlarge.

About Arona (vermittelt)

What life with Arona (vermittelt) looks like

Arona (vermittelt) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arona (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arona (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arona (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arona (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arona (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arona (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arona (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
