Arthur

Lurcher · Male · Puppy · 10 months

Everyone, meet Arthur! Arthur is a gorgeous little lurcher who came to us from the pound, so like most of the lurchers who come into our care, we don’t know much at all about his start in life. Arthur is a young boy with lots of energy and love to give. He loves his lurcher mate Clifford, and they really do enjoy tearing around the field together and would do it all day long if they could! He has met a few other hounds during his stay here, and is a classic rough playing lurcher with them, but is generally very good with other dogs. Arthur can certainly live with the right dog, provided they’re up for a lot of play and won’t get sick of a young boy trying to muck about with them all day. We would also home Arthur to families with children. We feel that Arthur is a dog who you can take out all day to trips to the beach, pub, into town etc. He is a smart boy with bundles of energy, so you’ll need to be a home that can adequately enrich and exercise him. Arthur is a really lovely little guy who is more than ready to find his forever home, so if you’re an active, adventurous home looking for a smart young dog to join your family, Arthur could be your guy! About Arthur

What life with Arthur looks like

Arthur is a puppy/kitten lurcher dog waiting at description in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arthur, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arthur?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arthur on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arthur if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arthur already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arthur isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arthur and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
