Arturo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 18 years

Arturo is a beautiful cat, but his story is one that reminds us once again of the importance of fighting abandonment and prejudice. He was left at a veterinary clinic in difficult conditions, with the justification that he was “aggressive.” A word that too often becomes an excuse for giving up on an animal that simply needs care, time, and respect. When Arturo arrived at our cat animal shelter, we found a worn-out, weakened kitten, but by no means aggressive. With patience, daily attention, and veterinary care, he began to trust little by little. Today, Arturo is recovering: he is a sweet, sensitive cat that shows how crucial it is not to label and not to give up in the face of difficulties. His story is a symbol of our mission: to say no to cat abandonment, promote responsible care, and offer a second chance to those who have no voice. Every day we strive to save and protect animals in need, ensuring they receive assistance, safety, and love. At the moment, Arturo still needs time to fully recover and regain his serenity. For this reason, he is available for a distance adoption: a concrete gesture to help us support his care and his recovery journey. If you want to make a difference and support Arturo, we invite you to read the section dedicated to distance adoptions on our website. Together, we can continue to fight against abandonment and give a better future to many cats like him. About Arturo

What life with Arturo looks like

Arturo is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali in Italy.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Arturo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Arturo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Arturo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Arturo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Arturo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Arturo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Lo Scudo di Pan - Rifugio per Animali early rather than rehoming privately; they know Arturo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
