Ash

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 21 years

Ash is approx 12hh & 21 yo, she is well handled and lovely to be around, she loves a groom and a fuss. This pic with her boots is when she first came to the charity and was getting her laminitis under control. She has had Cushings diagnosed since being with the Charity & it is well managed on 1 tablet per day, she no longer requires her boots. She would suit a home with another laminitic where she can continue her low sugar diet & daily prascend tablet. If you can offer this lovely girl a home please fill out a rehoming form. Her fee is £100+donation to the Charity and will only be rehomed locally, currently based in the Forest of Dean, Glos . More pics & info here.

About Ash

What life with Ash looks like

Ash is a senior mixed breed horse waiting at Welsh Pony Rescue & Rehoming Charitable Trust in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ash, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ash?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Welsh Pony Rescue & Rehoming Charitable Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ash on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ash if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Welsh Pony Rescue & Rehoming Charitable Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ash already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most horses on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ash isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Welsh Pony Rescue & Rehoming Charitable Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ash and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
