Adopt ASPEN

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Breed: mixed breed Project: Greece/Larissa (0, 11/2025) Gender: male/neutered Age: born ca. 01/2025 Size: small to medium (SH ca. 40 cm) Weight: ca. 9 kg Other: very friendly to people and other dogs (especially to female dogs), child-friendly, playful, and full of energy Current location: Animal shelter Tyrnavos/Greece ASPEN's story ASPEN is a young male dog and was found with a broken leg in early August 2025. The community responded immediately, took him into their care, and brought him to the vet right away, where he underwent surgery. After the operation, ASPEN had to observe strict cage rest for about two months and came to the animal shelter during this time. This phase he faced bravely and it was worth it. Today, ASPEN is fully recovered. He can run, play, and jump, and anyone who sees him now would hardly believe he ever had a broken leg. In November 2025, ASPEN was neutered, and the tests for so-called Mediterranean diseases were negative. Additionally, he is age-appropriately vaccinated, treated against endo- and ectoparasites, and ready to travel. Once he finds his permanent family, he can start his new life. ASPEN is a lively, healthy young dog who, despite his tough start in life, is full of energy and enthusiasm. However, the animal shelter is not a place where a dog like him should stay permanently. He needs closeness, affection, and a home where he can belong. This is a current and ongoing assessment of ASPEN. How he will behave in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like we humans, will change and continue to develop. But with the right, patient, and loving guidance, ASPEN will surely become a faithful companion. We hope very much that ASPEN will soon find the people who will give him the security he so deserves❤️.

About ASPEN

What life with ASPEN looks like

ASPEN is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting ASPEN, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ASPEN?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ASPEN on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ASPEN if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ASPEN already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ASPEN isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know ASPEN and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
