Adopt Asteris (Αστέρης)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

At some point, a lively, playful starfish leaped with force from the sky and landed dramatically in our arms. Since then, the sky has been a little darker, our hearts much brighter, and our daily life in the foster care space much more exciting. Because our finicky and lively little guy never misses an opportunity to get into everything. Tender, strong, playful and quarrelsome... Although a bit of a troublemaker with his roommates, our boy is sweet and affectionate with people. And although he often creates panic with his cleverness, he never stops having passionate fans who know that once adopted, he will become a model companion! What does he lack? The opportunity to prove it! Asteris was born in August 2015 and weighs about 30 kilograms. He was abandoned in our foster care area inside a box together with his four siblings when he was about 40 days old.

About Asteris (Αστέρης)

What life with Asteris (Αστέρης) looks like

Asteris (Αστέρης) is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Stray Planet in Greece.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Asteris (Αστέρης), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Asteris (Αστέρης)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stray Planet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Asteris (Αστέρης) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Asteris (Αστέρης) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stray Planet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Asteris (Αστέρης) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Asteris (Αστέρης) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stray Planet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Asteris (Αστέρης) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
