Atos

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Atos is a medium-sized, very nice dog who came to the animal shelter in 2021. He was taken from a property where there was uncontrolled dog breeding, which resulted in his socialization being severely neglected. Under our care, Atos is constantly making up for his deficiencies, and has also learned that contact with humans is good, although he sometimes lacks confidence in new people. After getting to know him better, he is a dog who seeks support, affection, and praise from his caregiver. He does not refuse longer walks in the forest or on field paths. He is an active dog, but we suspect he would quickly get used to relaxing on the couch next to a loving owner. Atos gets along well with other dogs, often encouraging them to play. However, due to his previous life, he can be possessive about food and treats. A dog will feel comfortable living in a quiet area with access to nature walks. City traffic is foreign to him (although with a good approach and willingness, this could probably be worked out). He can live with another dog. About Atos

What life with Atos looks like

Atos is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Atos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Atos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Atos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Atos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Atos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Atos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Atos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
