Katzenstube 3 Atticus Age 01.01.2016. Gender male-neutered. Breed EKH. Fur color striped-white. Housing until now only apartment. Cat-friendly no. Child-friendly conditionally. Partner animal – Character: I am Atticus. A stately tomcat in his prime, born in 2016, with an elegant striped-white fur and freshly polished teeth. Yes, correctly read. My teeth are practically fresh out of the workshop. So, I am well-prepared for some snacks. I am a quiet, well-mannered fellow who enjoys it when people have time for a few cuddles. Couch, blanket, a nice person, and maybe a bit of TV together… I am all for it. Closeness is great, but I am not one of the pushy sort. Rather the gentleman among cats. Up until now, I have only lived in an apartment. A quiet home is still something I can imagine for myself. If you live in a safe area, I could imagine having a solo roam as a single tomcat. A little fresh air, sniffing the world… sounds pretty exciting. I generally get along with other cats if there is enough space, but I prefer to be the sole feline favorite of my human. I also know children, as long as they are friendly and respectful. What I am looking for? A loving home, perhaps a bit quieter, with people who appreciate a laid-back tomcat. Someone who understands that a good day consists of petting, dozing, observing, and occasional snacks. If you think your couch could accommodate a charming roommate on four legs, then we might meet soon. Gently yours, Atticus back 13. Katzenstube 3 Atticus Alter 01.01.2016. Geschlecht männlich-kast. Was ich suche? About Atticus

What life with Atticus looks like

Atticus is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Peine in Peine.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Atticus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Atticus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Peine handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Atticus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Atticus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Peine will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Atticus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Atticus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Peine early rather than rehoming privately; they know Atticus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
