Audrey

Shih Tzu · Female · Young · 1 year

15-08-26 Audrey is a beautiful girl who has come into our care from a breeder. She is a little shy at the moment, but she is already starting to come out of her shell and we are sure that with time, patience and lots of love and TLC, she will blossom into a wonderful companion. She can be worried when you first try to handle her, but once she is safely in your arms, she settles well and is happy to be fussed. Audrey absolutely loves her kennel friends and gains a lot of confidence from having other dogs around her. She relies on them for comfort and reassurance, so she will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog in her new home. Having never lived in a home before, Audrey has lots to learn. Her new family will need to be patient while she gets used to all the sights, sounds and routines of home life, and she will need to learn about house training. She is already learning all about walking on a lead and harness and is doing really well. We think she will enjoy exploring quiet areas with her new family. We would consider a home with dog savvy older children who understand that Audrey will need a calm and gentle approach. Audrey is a lovely girl who is already showing us that there is a much more confident and affectionate little dog waiting to emerge. We really hope her special family will come along and give her the chance to blossom into the happy girl we know she can be. Audrey has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Audrey

What life with Audrey looks like

Audrey is a young adult shih tzu dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Audrey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Audrey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Audrey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Audrey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Audrey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Audrey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Audrey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
