Aura

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Aura - a special fighter seeks a loving foster home Aura is about 2 years old, spayed and a wonderful, friendly female dog. She gets along well with other dogs and is also kind and tolerant with children. Aura has unfortunately had a lot to go through in her young life. Due to genital cancer she had to undergo chemotherapy. She has successfully overcome this - the cancer is cured. Currently, Aura still has an important treatment ahead: her leg continues to cause her problems and will likely need to be amputated. Therefore, we are looking for a loving and understanding foster home for Aura to accompany her on her further journey and give her the necessary time to recover. The future foster home should be aware that Aura may live with a disability permanently. She should therefore be willing to adapt to the special needs of a dog with a disability and support Aura with a lot of patience, love and understanding. Despite everything, Aura has not lost her friendly nature. She is tolerant with other dogs and kind to children. Now we wish for her people who will give her security and comfort and show her that after all the difficult experiences a beautiful dog life is finally waiting for her.

About Aura

What life with Aura looks like

Aura is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. in Bielefeld.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aura, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aura?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aura on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aura if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Aura already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aura isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundenothilfe-OWL e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aura and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
