Auro

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Description Our animal welfare workers report: The beautiful, still too thin Auro comes from a local animal shelter in southern Spain. Previously, he had to live on a chain with a farmer who kept several dogs chained as "yard dogs." The conditions were absolutely not pleasant; the dogs were in no good condition. Day in and day out on the iron chain, a weathered hut as the only protection, far too little food, no kind words – simply sad. The man passed away, and the family did not take care of the animals. This is how Auro ended up in the animal shelter and eventually in Lleida, where he is now finally well cared for and nourished. Auro is an incredibly great dog. Very friendly, despite his miserable past. He seems to sense that things are getting better now. That he now has a real chance. He has been rather a quiet dog so far. But he is also still busy settling in and processing. Auro needs to gain weight, but that shouldn't be a problem. He is now getting regular meals. Moreover, he is now receiving regular kind attention and care and cuddles. All of this is new for the young male dog. And he is enjoying it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, he is being treated well and experiencing affection. Auro gets along well with the other dogs. There are no problems there. Auro does not hear well, so his hearing is very strongly reduced. We do not know why this is the case. Whether he was hit and his ears were injured, or whether he had this characteristic from puppyhood, we do not know. Nevertheless, one can communicate very well with the loving male dog and connect with him. He can learn to respond well to body language and hand signals. When this dear fellow has fully settled into his new life, he will surely become a joyful companion who enjoys every day and brings much joy to his human. Please note:. This is a puppy.

About Auro

What life with Auro looks like

Auro is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Auro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Auro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Auro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Auro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Auro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Auro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Auro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
