Adopt Aurora

Female · Senior · 15 years

Aurora came to us as a found animal at our shelter. Now the little miss is on the lookout for a new forever home. Aurora is a loving, snuggly, and friendly female cat who is looking for a quiet home with apartment living that has a secure balcony. She is house-trained and enjoys relaxed days in a quiet environment where she can feel safe and secure. Aurora has her own personality and clearly shows who she likes. Once she has built trust, she is cuddly and enjoys the company of her people very much. If something doesn’t suit her, however, she can also be grumpy – that’s what makes her special. She is therefore looking for people who love cats with personality and respect their boundaries. For Aurora, a quiet household without dogs is sought. Children or infants should not live in the new home either, as she does not handle stress and unrest well. A secure balcony would be ideal for her, so she can safely enjoy fresh air and sun spots. Aurora is already older and requires regular medication due to some health limitations. She suffers from kidney failure and takes Porus One, Pronefra, and Semintra. Additionally, she has high blood pressure and takes Amlodip. Because of her arthritis, she is treated with Solensia. Despite her health challenges, she manages her everyday life calmly and bravely and wishes for people who will give her the necessary care and attention. Whoever gives Aurora a loving home will receive a special cat with character who will accompany her people in her own unique way and greatly appreciates the peace and security of a understanding home.

About Aurora

What life with Aurora looks like

Aurora is a senior cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Aurora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Aurora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Aurora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Aurora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Aurora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Aurora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Aurora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
