adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Austin has found a home! His story: Austin is a true cuddly bear and has such a gentle nature like an angel. At just about 4.5 months old, he is a real stunner! He has dark button eyes and golden, plush, fluffy fur that gets darker at the ears. His eyes are framed by a light mask, making him something special. Voraussichtlich, he will grow into a medium to large, handsome dog. Currently, the little Austin is a cuddly and sweet puppy that wants to be loved and protected. Austin belongs to the more shy dogs. With lots of cuddles—and they are also required—he has thawed in the foster family and is now beginning to explore the house. He doesn't know family life well yet and still has a lot to learn. The sensitive fur baby still seeks a lot of protection and orientation from the foster mom and the first-time mom, but he is also becoming more curious here. The walks now make him happy, leash training is no longer a problem, and he shows himself more open to strangers. He is very smart and watches a lot from the existing first-time mom, so he is house-trained after just a week and learns his first basic commands. On praise, he reacts immediately and expresses it, wanting to do everything right. Puppy contacts are also great, no barking, no growling, and very respectful and open contact. Austin loves the children of the foster family, so he would be very happy with a family with more stable children. Austin's puberty is not far off, and this is also a time for dogs when the foundations for the rest of their life are set. Therefore, we recommend his new family to work with a positively working dog training class. Patient and loving training will strengthen his self-confidence, solidify the bond to his trusted people, and keep him physically and mentally challenged. Originally, Austin came from Romania, Baia Mare. He was brought in with his nine (!)

About Austin

What life with Austin looks like

Austin is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Austin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Austin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Austin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Austin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Austin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Austin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Austin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
