Adopt Ava

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 11 years

Ava came in through an alert from an old adopter. They were spending a few days on vacation at a hotel in Benacazón. They stumbled upon a rambunctious little dog who would sneak into the hotel every day to hang out with the guests by the pool... After a family complained about her presence, the hotel management asked the maintenance supervisor to take her away. Since we didn't know what they planned to do with her and the situation was urgent, we offered her a spot in our small kitten animal shelter. AVA is a small but sturdy 6-year-old dog (though her personality makes her seem much younger) weighing about 15 kg. At the animal shelter, she lives with TYRION, another big and good-natured dog, and when we take her for walks, she happily greets all the dogs she knows. But her weakness is people, that’s just how it is, which is why it pains us so much that she can’t enjoy their company as much as she would like. She is healthy, with negative test results. She can be adopted or placed in foster care, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered. She can travel to other provinces. Personality:

About Ava

What life with Ava looks like

Ava is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Gatas Salvajes in Seville.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ava, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ava?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gatas Salvajes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ava on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ava if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gatas Salvajes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ava already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ava isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gatas Salvajes early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ava and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
