Ava

Golden Retriever · Female · Adult · 8 years

For interest in our dear Ava, please send us the completed application form so that Ava, just like our other dogs Ava, comes directly from Turkey to their families. What we know about Ava: Ava is an older female Golden Retriever – calm, gentle, and simply loving. One of those who ask for nothing but have so much to give. We don’t know exactly what Ava has experienced in her life, but it’s clear that she was long on her own and that much was missing. Now, Ava is with us and can finally rest. Ava is simply loving. Quiet, calm, unobtrusive, and incredibly sweet. She seeks the company of humans, carefully: she lies down, looks at you… waits. And when you give her your hand, she comes closer gently and enjoys every touch. Ava never pushes herself on anyone – but she wants to belong. Ava is absolutely compatible with other dogs and good with cats. She loves peace and harmony. Since Ava is already a senior, her hip isn’t as stable anymore. Nevertheless, she likes to run and play a lot, and she seems to have no strong pain. She can only hear limited, but her eyes have already improved so that she can see well again. This is what we wish for Ava: • a quiet, loving home • people with a heart for older dogs • a warm place and security • time, closeness, and care Ava no longer needs big adventures, no training, or any expectations. She just needs love. For people who know how special seniors are and who take joy in showing an older dog what love, warmth, and security mean, Ava is a gift. Whoever takes in Ava not only gives her a home but perhaps the most beautiful days of her life. Nice to know: Ava loves being outside and going for walks – sometimes so much that you almost have to “convince” her to come back inside. Still, ruhig, unaufdringlich und dabei unglaublich süß.

About Ava

What life with Ava looks like

Ava is a medium-sized adult golden retriever dog waiting at Care-4-life e.V. in Stuttgart.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ava, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ava?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Care-4-life e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ava on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ava if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Care-4-life e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ava already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ava isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Care-4-life e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ava and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
